Easter is about love. Easter is about life. Easter is also about chocolates. I have fond memories of my dad returning from a flight with cream filled chocolate Easter eggs. When I was little and growing up in Malaysia, it was hard to come across Easter eggs. With my dad flying to London each week, I was fortunate to have a good supply of deliciousness!
This weekend, the Old Bus Depot Markets welcomes back local specialty chocolate maker, Stuart Strutt-Shotton from Enigma Fine Chocolates, just in time to share his handmade single origin chocolates for Easter.
Enigma has been absent from the Markets over the warmer months, as obviously the hot weather doesn’t agree with fine chocolate, but Stuart will be back from this coming Sunday 20 March.
“We can’t wait to show off the locally-made Enigma range of chocolates which are sure to delight Canberra’s most discerning chocolate lovers at Easter,” said Old Bus Depot Markets’ Director, Diane Hinds.
Stuart has been busy creating an Easter range including miniature chocolate Easter bunnies in a range of cocoa strengths as well as white, milk, hazelnut and the popular caramelised milk chocolate and popcorn. As well as bunnies, Stuart has created a range of smaller whole eggs, and larger half eggs filled with toasted coconut and specially made hot cross bun truffles. All are available from this weekend and on Easter Sunday until sold out.
“In addition to our Easter treats, we’re back with our range of classic truffles including popular flavours like burnt honey caramel, champagne and our 40%, 70% and 100% cocoa. We’ll also have all our popular bars made using Valrhona chocolate,” said Enigma’s Stuart Strutt-Shotton.
All Enigma chocolates are created at Stuart’s own home in Lyneham, with most of the chocolates of single origin – from either Madagascar, Dominican Republic or Grenada. His 100% cocoa truffle is made using the 100% Venezuelan by Willie’s Cacao – of William “Willie” Harcourt-Cooze fame.
“In addition to these fabulous chocolates, the markets are the place to be on Easter Sunday for beautiful fresh flowers and deliciously good hot cross buns. Plus it’s also a special theme day, Portobello Road on Easter Sunday, when our visitors can find an interesting range of antiques and collectables,” Diane concluded.
The Old Bus Depot Markets are open every Sunday 10am to 4pm. For more information on Enigma Fine Chocolates click here.
