So it was the last day of the Floriade Nightfest 2014 and I decided to give it ago. To my surprise, I managed to get tickets just 3 hours before NightFest opened its gates, how lucky was that?
I had already seen the beautiful flowers during the day, and decided I should at least see what the Floriade NightFest 2014 was all about. To be honest, I preferred looking at the flower beds when the sun was out but I suppose since not many events run till late, this was, in a way unique. My highlight of the evening was bumping into the NightFest King and Queen… they didn’t speak, they just walked very slowly and bowed all the time, so I am guessing they were King and Queen… anyhow here are some of the pictures I took that night! Did you go? What were your thoughts?

Rosemarie, thanks for sharing your NightFest photos – they look great! We also really enjoyed the NightFest and we were lucky that the rain went away for the night we visited.
Oh that is great news that it didn’t rain! Did you hear about the “one day” that dogs are allowed to visit the Floriade too? It was yesterday but I didn’t have the time to drop by. 🙂
This looks like such a fun event (saw the daytime pics too), and I’d love to check it out whenever I make it to Canberra!
It is such a pretty event that takes place every spring! If you ever visit, give me a shout!!
These are great photos . I’ve seen lots of daytime Floriade shots (and it’s definitely on my bucket list to see it myself one year) but not so much of night photos. It creates a completely different atmosphere.
Thank you Fairlie, there were a lot more to photograph but i got waylaid by the food stalls!
it looks so good at night! Definitely must get down for it one year, beautiful photos.
Thanks Toni! Give us a shout if you head down next year!
Atmospheric photos! They do something similar in Montreal each autumn, an extraordinary lantern festival at their botanical gardens. Floriade sounds like a great time to visit Canberra.
It sure is Lesley! We also have a candle festival coming up too! I would love to visit Canada again! It is such a beautiful country, my last visit there was when I was about 12. 🙂
What glorious photos and a kaleidoscope of colour. I haven’t been to Floriade for years – looks like next year it is time for a return visit!
Cool…
[…] and events. You may find festivals occurring in the start of spring, especially the Floriade and NightFest. Summer brings in more events and markets. Autumn is simply gorgeous as the leaves turn colour. […]
